In my previous post I mentioned my goal of catching up on my scrapbooks. I've been scrapbooking (which apparently isn't a word? bear with me) since I was in 8th grade. It's always seemed like such a mom hobby to me, but what can I say, I love it. I love the pictures, the paper, the whole deal. My perfectionism takes full reign as I put the whole thing together, and I really agonize over the whole process, sparing no details and making sure that I have included every possible memento that I might have saved regarding the event commemorated by the page.
This process, as you might have guessed, has resulted in me being close to 3 years behind in my scrapbook. I have (almost) finished my senior year, which was a ginormous undertaking in and of itself. It's become so overwhelming that I contemplated just skipping my college years and starting fresh. However, that solution seemed unacceptable to me, so I am instead embarking on an experiment to achieve the ever-elusive goal of "catching up." I am working to create a "speed scrapbook" where I basically try not to agonize over the whole thing. Background paper, pictures, title, captions, DONE. No going to Michael's and perusing the aisles for the perfect background paper the match my outfit for the occasion. No looking for the perfect embellishments for the piece of paper I already have. I am only using things I have already purchased (trust me... I will have plenty of options). I'm hoping to finish ordering the pictures from Costco by tonight so that they can be picked up tomorrow. The only thing I will then need to do is pick up a new scrapbook, and I'll be set! Hopefully this doesn't turn into a half-baked disaster. I'll be sure to let you guys know how my experiment turns out.
