Shoe Shopping

I apologize if the title of this post is misleading. I'm not actually shopping for cute shoes. In light of our recent weather, I have realized that I'm lacking in some necessary footwear. The more boring issue is that I need new running shoes. I knew that I should have bought some over winter break, but I was just too lazy. Based on that last statement, you might think that I am a car-less college student, bound to take the bus or bum rides off of my friends to go shopping. False. That's just the lazy talking again. In my defense, I have a lot of school work to do. And when I'm not doing schoolwork, I am recovering from said schoolwork. Either way, my laziness has resulted in me having some year-old, grungy running shoes. Oh well, maybe some new running shoes are in store for me over spring break.

The other pair of shoes that I need is a new pair of rain boots. I discovered while sledding that my beloved pair of red and white polka dotted rain boots have a hole in them. While these aren't as imperative to replace as my running shoes, I do wear them a surprising amount. Hunter wellies are all the rage right now and I love their simple lines.

However, they cost a pretty penny, and I'm not about to spend over $100 on rain boots. And I'm not married to getting the brand. If you open my closet, you'll find a lot of knock-off stuff. I'm all about the look for less. I have a $20 black fleece from Marshalls (basically a North Face without saying North Face on the front) and I have $20 Charlotte Russe ugg type boots (which I affectionately refer to as my "fuggs"). I'm not compelled to shell out a lot of money for things that I would wear on a day that I'm being lazy, when I can get comparable things cheaper. That being said, there are times when I think its worth it to buy the brand. In fact I've been thinking about buying some real uggs since my fuggs are kinda gross. But I digress. I found a pair of purple Hunter wellies on Ebay in a size 9 (which I'm thinking is what I would need), but alas, they are gone now. I'm thinking that if I decided to get some, I would go the Ebay route, since you can get them for much cheaper. Plus, that way I don't have to agonize over what color I would want from the millions of pretty colors that they make. The only thing is that I am always hesitant to buy something that I haven't tried on if I can't return it...

Okay I'm sorry I subjected you to that. This is why I have a hard time pulling the trigger on shoes... and a lot of other purchases. I promise I'll make a decision eventually. It's not that serious for now.

On a less frustrating note, I just watched pair figure skating in the Olympics, and I love the story of the couple who won the gold! So cute.
